In person and virtually.

THE COACHING

Step back, take a breathe, work authentically and with intention

My executive coaching and strategy practice is predominantly focused on supporting two critical groups: high-performing executives and high-potential, mid-level leaders. This work is completed in 1-1 or group settings, either individually or through organizations on behalf of their leaders, and virtually or in person.

My work centers on leaders navigating complexity—whether that involves a business challenge, sustained pressure, new roles or pivots, or the desire to operate at a higher level of effectiveness and intention.

WHY THIS WORK MATTERS

The context in which leaders are operating today is fundamentally different than it was even a decade ago. The environment is more complex, more visible, and more demanding. As a society and in this modern world of technology, we’re more exhausted and distracted than ever. We’re asked to do more with less resources and budget. We’re stretched thin while asked to perform at higher levels with even more hours. The world feels uncertain and polarization is high. Conjunctively, Boomer generational turnover is occurring, and both seasoned executives and high-potential, mid-level leaders are being slotted into positions for which they may not be fully prepared.

AI, now everywhere, cannot offer emotional intelligence; mutual trust; personalized insights; or deep good judgment and critical thinking skills. Coaching can and does.

What does this all mean?

Leaders are expected to guide teams and make decisions amid ambiguity and intense stress and pressure. The space to think deeply and make intentional, well-thought decisions has diminished—yet the consequences of those decisions have grown. It’s high-stakes and often isolating. Leaders need help.

THE APPROACH

Coaching provides a steady, objective, and calming presence—helping leaders step out of reactivity and into intentional leadership.

My coaching is grounded, direct, and informed by real executive experience. I am a thought partner and provide a space that is both supportive and honest—where leaders can slow down enough to think clearly and safely, be challenged thoughtfully, and move forward with clarity and confidence. It’s practical, real-world work focused on helping clients lead effectively in complex environments, make decisions, navigate their difficulties, and create long-term progress. I help people build careers and lives that are both successful and sustainable.

My approach combines:

Structured reflection & accountability | Direct, candid dialogue | Strategic thinking | A calm, grounded presence

Liz Brailsford is an executive coach and strategic advisor who works with senior leaders navigating business challenges and transitions in career and life. With nearly 15 years of experience on senior leadership teams—including more than seven years in C-suite roles—she brings deep expertise in organizational strategy, leadership development, and working through complex transitions.

Liz has built her career across all sectors: for-profit, nonprofit, and public, helping organizations grow, adapt, and lead in dynamic environments. Most recently, she served as President & CEO of the World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth, where she led the organization through a period of strategic growth and expanded regional impact. Prior to that, she served as Chief Operating Officer of the World Affairs Councils of America in Washington, DC.

Earlier in her career, Liz held leadership and advisory roles across international development, global mobility, and government consulting, including USAID and work with multiple Fortune 500 and 1000 clients. Her experience began working for the Japanese government through the Japan Exchange & Teaching (JET) Program, where she developed a lifelong commitment to people-to-people and cross-cultural engagement.

Today, Liz advises executives and organizations on leadership development, burnout, pivotal moments, planned exits or otherwise, building momentum and clarity, and finding concord in all areas of life. She is particularly passionate about supporting two groups: high-performing executives and high-potential, mid-level leaders, both seeking impact, alignment, and clarity in their next chapter of leadership.

She holds an MPA from the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School and a BA from the University of South Carolina.

“In every session, Liz was a brilliant listening board, asking probing questions that pushed me to clarify my vision and step into my full potential. She didn’t just help me set goals; she helped me see how to become a more proactive, visionary leader.”

I can’t recommend Liz highly enough. When I started working with Liz, I was navigating big career decisions and working to decide my direction for the next three to five years. Liz became an invaluable partner in helping me see beyond the immediate horizon. With her deep background as an executive in both nonprofits and business, she brought a rare blend of insight, empathy, and strategic foresight.

In every session, Liz was a brilliant listening board, asking probing questions that pushed me to clarify my vision and step into my full potential. She didn’t just help me set goals; she helped me see how to become a more proactive, visionary leader. What stands out about Liz is how she balanced her challenge with compassion. Her ability to ask the tough questions with warmth and curiosity was a game-changer.

Today, Liz is more than a coach, she is a mentor. I trust her counsel implicitly, and I know that I can turn to her for both pragmatic advice and a steady, empathetic hand. If you’re a leader seeking not just a coach, but a guide to help you expand your impact, Liz is the one you need.
